Cart Management
Verify comprehensive cart functionality including adding items, updating quantities, removing items, applying/removing discount codes, and accurate total calculations.
Preconditions
- Store has multiple published products with available stock
- A valid discount code exists (for discount testing)
Test Data
Use test discount code (e.g., "SAVE10" for 10% off). Note the minimum amount requirement if any.Test Steps
Follow each step carefully
Add a product to cart from the product page
Click "Add to Cart" on any product
Item appears in cart; cart icon shows count of 1
Navigate to the cart page
Click cart icon in header
Cart page loads showing the added item with correct price
Increase the quantity of the item
Click "+" button or edit quantity input
Quantity increases; line total (price x quantity) updates; cart subtotal updates
Decrease the quantity back to original
Click "-" button or edit quantity input
Quantity decreases; totals recalculate correctly
Decreasing to 0 may remove the item depending on implementation
Add a second different product to cart
Navigate to another product and add to cart
Second item appears in cart; subtotal is sum of both items
Find and expand the discount code field
"Promo code", "Discount code", or "Have a coupon?" link
Discount code input field is visible
Enter a valid discount code and click "Apply"
Type code in field, click "Apply" button
Success message appears; discount shown as line item; total is reduced by discount amount
Remove the discount code
"Remove" link or "X" button next to applied discount
Discount is removed; total returns to original amount
Remove one item from cart
Trash icon or "Remove" link next to an item
Item is removed; subtotal updates to show only remaining item(s)
Remove all remaining items to empty the cart
Remove each item or "Clear cart" if available
Empty cart state is displayed with message and link to continue shopping
Expected Result
Cart management works correctly: (1) Quantities update immediately with accurate totals, (2) Line totals (price x quantity) are correct, (3) Subtotal is sum of all line totals, (4) Discount codes apply correctly and reduce total, (5) Discount codes can be removed, (6) Items can be removed individually, (7) Empty cart shows appropriate message, (8) Cart state persists across page navigation.
