Add Variant Product to Cart
Verify that customers must select required variant options before adding a product with variants to cart.
Preconditions
- Store has a product with variants (e.g., size, color)
- Product has available stock for at least one variant
Test Steps
Follow each step carefully
Navigate to a product with variants
Find a product that shows variant options like size or color
Product page shows variant selectors
Attempt to add to cart without selecting required options
Click Add to Cart before selecting variants
Error message appears or options are highlighted as required
Some stores may disable the button until options are selected
Select the first required variant option (e.g., Size)
Click on size button or select from dropdown
Option is selected; may show stock availability for that option
Select the second required variant option if applicable (e.g., Color)
Click color swatch or select from dropdown
Option is selected; price may update if variants have different prices
Click Add to Cart with all options selected
Add to Cart button should now be enabled
Product is added to cart with selected variant options
View cart and verify variant details are shown
Open cart to see product details
Cart shows product with variant details (e.g., "Size: Large, Color: Blue")
Expected Result
Variant product add to cart works: (1) Variant options are clearly displayed, (2) Required options must be selected before adding, (3) Selected options affect price if applicable, (4) Cart shows correct variant details, (5) Each variant combination is tracked separately in cart.
