Onboarding Step 2: Categories
Add at least one product category to organize your store. This step offers industry-based category suggestions and AI-powered category generation. At least one category is required to proceed.
Preconditions
- Onboarding Step 1 (Business Details) is complete
- You are on Step 2 of the onboarding wizard

Review industry-based category suggestions (if displayed)
Suggested categories based on your selected industry
Suggestions are displayed based on store industry
You can select from suggestions or create custom categories
Select one or more suggested categories, OR create a custom category
Click suggested category chips to select, or use "Add Category" button
At least one category is added to your list
(Alternative) Use AI to generate categories
"Generate with AI" button
AI suggests relevant categories based on your store type
AI generation considers your store name and industry
Create custom categories if needed
"Add Category" button with text input for category name
Custom category is created and added to the list
Verify at least one category exists
Categories list shows at least one item
Continue button is enabled (requires at least 1 category)
You cannot proceed without at least one category
Save and continue to next step
"Save & Continue" or "Next" button
Step is marked as complete; progress indicator updates
Expected Result
After saving: (1) Categories are saved to the store, (2) Step 2 is marked as complete, (3) User advances to Step 3 (First Product), (4) Validation enforces at least 1 category requirement.
