Create Simple Product
Verify that store admins can create a basic product without variants. This is the fundamental product creation flow covering name, description, price, status, category, and image upload.
Preconditions
- You are logged in as store owner or staff with product permissions
- You are in the store admin dashboard
- At least one category exists (or you can create one during the test)

Follow each step carefully
Navigate to /dashboard/products/new
Click "Products" in sidebar, then "Add Product" or "New Product" button
Product creation form/page appears with empty fields
Enter the product name (required field)
Text input field at the top, labeled "Product Name" or "Title"
Name appears in the field; slug may auto-generate below
Name is required - form should not submit without it
Enter the product description
Large text area or rich text editor below the name
Description text is entered; formatting tools work if available
Include key features, specifications, and benefits. Good descriptions improve SEO.
Set the price
Price input field, usually shows currency symbol
Price is entered correctly; may show formatted preview
Price should accept decimal values for cents/kobo
Set the product status
Dropdown or radio buttons with options: DRAFT, ACTIVE, or ARCHIVED
Status is selected and shown
DRAFT = not visible on storefront, ACTIVE = visible, ARCHIVED = hidden/discontinued
Select a category for the product
Dropdown or searchable select field for categories
Category is selected and shown
Upload a product image (max 5MB)
Image upload zone - drag and drop or click to select
Image preview appears after upload; no error for file under 5MB
Use high-quality images (recommended: 1000x1000px). First image becomes the primary image.
Click "Save" or "Create Product" button
Primary action button at bottom or top of form
Loading state appears, then success message
Expected Result
After creation: (1) Success message confirms product was created, (2) Product appears in the products list with correct status, (3) Product is visible on storefront if status is ACTIVE, (4) Product details page shows all entered information correctly.
