Payment Webhook Processing
Verify that payment provider webhooks are correctly received and processed, updating order status automatically.

- Payment gateway is configured
- Webhook endpoint is set up in payment provider dashboard
- Access to backend logs or webhook testing tools

Complete a payment on the storefront
Payment is processed, confirmation shown
Check the payment provider dashboard
Paystack/Flutterwave Dashboard > Webhooks or Events
Webhook event is logged as sent
Verify webhook was received by the backend
Check backend logs or webhook logs in admin
Webhook receipt is logged with event type
Look for logs like "Received webhook: charge.success"
Verify order status was updated
Check the order in store admin
Order payment status reflects the webhook event
Verify payment record was created
Payment details section of the order
Transaction ID and payment details are recorded
Expected Result
Webhook processing: (1) Webhook is received within seconds of payment, (2) Webhook signature is validated (not processed if invalid), (3) Order status automatically updates, (4) Payment transaction is recorded with provider reference, (5) Duplicate webhooks are handled idempotently, (6) Failed webhooks trigger retry mechanism.
