Order Tracking (Customer)
Verify that customers can track their order status using order number and email, without requiring authentication.
Preconditions
- At least one order exists with a known order_number and customer email
- Order preferably has been through multiple status changes for timeline testing
Test Data
Use a recent order number (e.g., ORD-12345) and the customer email used for that orderTest Steps
Follow each step carefully
Navigate to the order tracking page on the storefront
"Track Order" link in footer or header, or direct URL like /track-order
Order tracking page loads with lookup form
Enter the order number in the lookup form
Order number input field
Order number is entered
Enter the email address associated with the order
Email input field
Email is entered
This must match the email used when placing the order
Click "Track Order" or "Find Order" button
Submit button on the form
Order details load (or error if not found)
Review the order timeline/status history
Status timeline or progress indicator showing order journey
Timeline shows order progression: Placed -> Confirmed -> Processing -> Shipped etc.
Check shipping status and tracking information
Shipping section with carrier and tracking number
If shipped, tracking number is displayed with link to carrier tracking page
Test with incorrect email for same order number
Enter wrong email and try to track
Error message appears indicating order not found (for security, should not confirm order exists)
Expected Result
Order tracking works: (1) Tracking page is publicly accessible without login, (2) Order is found using order_number + email combination, (3) Order timeline shows all status changes with timestamps, (4) Current status is clearly indicated, (5) Tracking information displayed if order is shipped, (6) Invalid email/order combinations do not reveal order existence, (7) Order items and totals are visible.
