Assign Granular Permissions to Role
Verify that permissions can be assigned granularly (view, create, edit, delete) for different resource types.
Preconditions
- You are logged in as store owner
- You can create or edit custom roles
Test Steps
Follow each step carefully
Navigate to create or edit a custom role
Create new role or click edit on existing custom role
Role form opens with permissions section
Find the permissions section
List of permission categories/resources
Permission categories are displayed (Products, Orders, etc.)
For Products: enable only View and Edit (not Create or Delete)
Check View and Edit boxes only for Products
Products has View and Edit but not Create/Delete
For Orders: enable View only
Check only View for Orders
Orders has View but no other permissions
For Settings: disable all permissions
Uncheck all boxes for Settings
Settings has no permissions checked
Save the role
Save button
Role is saved with granular permissions
Assign this role to a test team member and verify permissions
Edit team member role, then log in as that member
Member can view/edit products, view orders, but cannot access settings
May require logging in as the team member to fully verify
Expected Result
Granular permissions work: (1) Each resource type has separate permissions, (2) Can enable/disable view, create, edit, delete independently, (3) Permissions are saved correctly, (4) Assigned team members have exactly the specified permissions, (5) UI hides/disables features based on permissions.
