Theme Feature Gate (Pro Themes)
Verify that Pro/Premium themes are properly gated and show upgrade prompts for non-subscribed stores.
Preconditions
- You are logged in as store owner/admin
- Your store is on a plan without Pro themes access
- At least one Pro theme exists in the theme gallery
Test Steps
Follow each step carefully
Navigate to Theme settings
Admin > Settings > Themes
Theme gallery loads
Identify a Pro or Premium theme
Look for "Pro", "Premium", crown icon, or similar badge
Pro themes are visually distinguished
Attempt to select or preview the Pro theme
Click on the Pro theme
Theme info opens; may show preview option
Attempt to apply the Pro theme
Click "Apply" or "Use Theme"
Upgrade prompt or modal appears instead of applying
Review the upgrade prompt
Check the upgrade message
Prompt explains Pro themes require upgrade with link to plans
Dismiss the prompt without upgrading
Close button or click outside modal
Theme is NOT applied; current theme remains
Expected Result
Pro theme gating works: (1) Pro themes are clearly marked, (2) Can preview Pro themes (if allowed), (3) Cannot apply without subscription, (4) Clear upgrade prompt is shown, (5) Link to upgrade path is provided, (6) Current theme is preserved when declined.
