Navigate Category Hierarchy
Verify that customers can navigate through category hierarchy to find products within specific categories and subcategories.
Preconditions
- Store has categories with products assigned
- Preferably has at least one subcategory for hierarchy testing
Test Steps
Follow each step carefully
Locate the category navigation on the storefront
Usually in header menu, sidebar, or homepage category section
Category menu or links are visible
Click on a main/parent category
Click category name in navigation menu
Category page loads showing products in that category
Observe the breadcrumb navigation
Look at the top of the page for breadcrumb trail
Breadcrumb shows: Home > Category Name
If subcategories exist, click on a subcategory
Look for subcategory links or sidebar filters
Subcategory page loads with filtered products
Skip if no subcategories configured
Verify product count is shown for the category
Look for "X products" text near the top
Product count is displayed and matches visible products
Use breadcrumb to navigate back to parent category
Click on parent category name in breadcrumb
Parent category page loads with all products
Expected Result
Category navigation works: (1) Categories are easily accessible, (2) Clicking category shows products in that category, (3) Breadcrumb navigation works correctly, (4) Subcategories filter products appropriately, (5) Product counts are accurate, (6) Can navigate between categories without issues.
